25 Jan Aspen camp out 2016
Nothing says summer like being able to pitch a tent. It’s full of the fun stuff that camping is all about, including plenty of dirt, especially when it’s all within shouting distance of home. Camp Out is for residents to enjoy the calm, open space and for kids to engage in refreshing outdoor activities. On arrival residents were given designated spots. Once set up was done the craving for old-fashioned family fun was fulfilled. There were no video games, televisions or cell phones involved only activities under the stars. The kids could play family board games and join Aspen community in Stalk the Lantern while mom and dad enjoyed a chat around the braai. Being outside after dark is pretty exciting for most kids, stargazing, taking a flashlight walk or search for night-time critters. It was all in the name of good clean fun. Dessert was the good old time favourite of melting marshmallows over the left over coals.
The night sounds formed a gentle backdrop for the participants who slept soundly to wake up the next morning to soft gentle rain on their tents. Preparation for breakfast was next on the go and the smell of an English breakfast had many tummies rumbling.
