12 Jan Aspen women’s day 2016
Aspen Community holds an annual women’s day breakfast and this year our theme was Breast Cancer awareness. One of our speakers, The Breast Health Foundation, which is a Not for Profit Company, was established in April 2002 in conjunction with several companies and organisations to educate the public on breast cancer and breast health, increase awareness and empower women. It’s founding was facilitated by individuals who held deep concerns around women’s health issues in South Africa and had the intentions to educate the public on breast health issues in general and breast cancer in particular. Our residents generously contributed in raising money for the cause. Our other speakers consisted of Lorraine Sutherland from Mighty women transformational academy our women empowerment speaker; Chantel Nel professional makeup artist who gave us a few make up tips; our very own Bertie Ditchfield from Tenaz who gave us a talk on nutrition; Dr Anjana Bhana who gave us a demo and a talk on non-surgical aesthetic enhancement and last but not least we had Thokoza who spoke about her battle with breast cancer and how it can be beaten. The morning was accompanied with Jacques Lagesse who serenaded the ladies with smooth romantic tunes. The delicious breakfast high tea style gave the event a flourishing finishing touch provided by CaterDeli. Afterwards the ladies took to the patio where they shopped and spoke to our experts on all things women.
